This car is a joy to drive and has perfect handling and stunning performance. It is not just the stunning acceleration but also the feel for the road that this car has that makes you feel at one with the car.
This car was Imported in 1999 as a nearly new Japanese Import. Before it's departure from Japan it had been modified by June machine shop who rebuilt the engine to a higher spec level to include forged pistons and a rebalanced engine. This is a genuine Subaru Impreza STI! There are a lot of Subaru Imprezas that can be found for sale purporting to be STI models but very few are and are usually STI copies. Check for the Pink badges and Nardi Steering wheel, Carbon Fibre suspension braces, alloy suspension arms, larger Turbocharger, Intercooler water spray, Red inlet manifolds, Driving Light covers and if any of these are missing then the car is not a genuine STI!
In recent years the following have been upgraded or changed. There is not a lot more that can be replaced and mechanically this car is perfect with a fully rebuilt engine upgraded as below. I have obviously not included minor servicing items. Oil has always been semi Synthetic and has been changed at recommended service intervals of 3000 miles along with a new filter.
This is an unique car and whilst a 1996 model the condition and specs make this a very special car
Engine: Total rebuild by Central Subaru at 88,000 Miles. New parts included crankshaft, All bearings and High pressure Oil Pump. Original June Machine Shop pistons and balanced flywheel retained.
Cooling System: New Radiator, Water Pump, Thermostat and all hoses in last year
Braking System: New grooved discs and Mintex Competition Pads front and rear (June 2007)
Overhauled Cylinder Head: Heads removed and valves inspected and reseated, Cam Belt, Water Pump and all Bearings and pulleys replaced. - December 2007
Suspension Bushes: All worn bushes replaced with Polyurethane Bushes in last year including drop links.
New battery May 2008
Professionally installed Thatcham approved Meta alarm, Imobilizer and central locking (Cost £450.00)
Dashboard and Speedometer. Gearbox drive replaced to UK spec at 40,000 Km's to set mileometer and Speedometer to UK Spec thus removing Japanese speed limiter based on speedometer reading, Gauge Fascias replaced to white backgrounds. True Mileage thus is 118,000 miles. Doing this also removes the speed limiter set to 114mph for Japanese cars.
